Dear Boys’ Team Families:
On behalf of the Surgent’s Parents’ Gymnastics Association (SPGA), we want to extend a warm welcome to our new Boys’ Team
families! SPGA is a non-profit organization and a co-op of team families that provides enthusiastic support for our children, and
financial support for our member families by pooling expenses towards: (a) the cost of coaching at meets, (b) team gifts to coaches,
office staff, and graduating seniors, and (c) helping to defray expenses for the boys who qualify to compete in the Junior Olympic
Nationals and the USA Championships. SPGA is a separate organization from Surgent's Elite School of Gymnastics, with an Executive
Board consisting of parent volunteers.
Now that your gymnast has joined the Surgent’s Elite Boys’ Gymnastics Team, there are a few tasks you’ll need to complete in order
to facilitate the competition process.
Most of the information you will need regarding all of the above can also be found on our website, www.spgaelite.com. However, if
you have any SPGA-related questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to one of the Executive Board officers for assistance!

Now that your gymnast has joined the Surgent’s Elite Boys’ Gymnastics Team, there are a few tasks you’ll need to complete in order
to facilitate the competition process.
- You’ll need to e-mail SPGA at spga1314@gmail.com to make sure we add you to our membership distribution list. This is the primary means of communication with our member families, so it’s important that you check your e-mail regularly. Also, please make sure your e-mail account is set so that e-mails from SPGA do not go to your junk/spam folder!
- You’ll need to file for membership in both SPGA and in USA Gymnastics (USAG). Membership in both organizations is mandatory for each gymnast before they will be eligible to compete with the team. For the 2019-2020 competition year, the membership dues for SPGA are $290, and SPGA will contact you about the membership application process. For USAG, the membership dues are $61, and Matt Stevenson, the Surgent’s Elite Boys’ Program Director, will direct you on how to apply for membership.
- You’ll need to purchase a team uniform for your gymnast, consisting of warm up pants, a warm up jacket, a competition shirt(step-in), competition pants, and competition shorts. SPGA holds a Used Uniform Sale at the beginning of each competition year to provide families with the opportunity to save on uniform costs. Following that, we place a bulk discount order with our vendor for any uniform pieces that still may need to be purchased. If your gymnast is joining the team later in the competition year, the Uniform Coordinator will provide you with the information you’ll need to order your gymnast’s uniform form our vendor.
- You’ll need to check your e-mail regularly for messages from SPGA indicating when it’s time to register your gymnast for each of the meets he is eligible to compete in. You will also receive information about the registration cost and where to find the online registration form. It’s important that you pay close attention to these deadlines, as we cannot add gymnasts to the meet roster once we have sent in our payment and athlete list.

you have any SPGA-related questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to one of the Executive Board officers for assistance!
